Mako SDK supports PDF/X-4 in output
The latest version, Mako 4.7, provides support for PDF/X-4 output, which complies with the PDF/X-4 standard (ISO 15930-7:2010). It is now possible to create PDF/X-4 files from any of the supported input formats: PDF, XPS, PCL/XL, PCL5 (or PostScript via PDFLib, included with Mako).
„PDF/X-4 is the current standard for the printing industry. The ISO standard automatically generates print-ready data and users no longer have to deal with any PDF settings,“ says Michael Karbe, CEO of Actino Software.
The new features of Mako™ SDK are incorporated into Actino PDF Courier, PDF Server und Outputmanagmenent Tools ein.
Mako’s developers worked hard to create the prerequisites for compliant PDF/X-4 output. These include font embedding, DeviceN color handling, color characterization and output readiness, optional content, trapping flag, and metadata. All this can be applied automatically, regardless of the input via the PDF/X-4 default, but OEMs like Actino Software can control the process as needed.
Mako 4.7 also completes the PCL input help that was first introduced in Mako 4.5 (PCL/XL) and Mako 4.6 (PCL5). Extensive testing with our own Harlequin Embedded SDK implementation has enabled us to rapidly develop the PCL implementation in Mako so that OEMs can use Mako for reliable thumbnailing, context extraction, combining or splitting documents and converting the result into any supported format.
