pdfaPilot update
Our partner, callas software, a leading provider of automated PDF quality assurance and archiving solutions, released version 8.1 of pdfaPilot. Among other things, the update offers the user new possibilities in the arrangement of pages, the creation of filters for the automated removal of XMP metadata as well as an optimized display of the tagging structure.
New possibilities for the arrangement of pages
One of the features of pdfaPilot was the interactive arrangement of pages in PDF files. In order to relieve the user of repetitive tasks such as removing or exchanging certain pages, pdfaPilot 8.1 offers the possibility to create schemas. This is an instruction on how to divide or arrange pages. The user calls up this schema and pdfaPilot executes the tasks stored in it independently. Furthermore, in pdfaPilot 8.1 pages can be rotated at will – i.e. not only by 90° – and optionally enlarged.
New feature for editing metadata
The handling of metadata is a strength of pdfaPilot. Now the user has the possibility to use predefined filters when removing XMP metadata. These filters can be used to determine which metadata is to be removed. For example, certain schemes, such as all Dublin Core metadata, such as author or title, can be excluded.
Additional option for email conversion
pdfaPilot is often used for the conversion of e-mails to PDF/A. The user can now optionally prevent the loading of external references, such as images in HTML formatted e-mails. This reduces the security risk and at the same time reduces file sizes.
Improved visualization of the tagging structure
To give users a better overview of the structure of PDF files with pdfaPilot, callas software has integrated the visualization functions of its Adobe Acrobat plug-in pdfGoHTML. These visualize the content structure in color coded form and thus help with the quality control of tagged PDFs.
